زمت ظَل مُزْمَئتَا: أي غَضْبَانَ. وزَمَتَه عَلَي زَمْتاً فهو مَزْمُوْتٌ فانْزَمَتَ انْزِمَاتاً: أي غَضِبَ. والزَّمِيْتُ والزِّمِّيْتُ: المُتَزَمِّتُ؛ وهو المُتَحَلِّمُ السّاكِتُ. وفيه زَمَاتَةٌ. ورَجُلُ زَمِيْتٌ: ظَرِيْفٌ، من قَوْمٍ زُمَتَاءَ.
والزُمتُ: طائرٌ أسْوَدُ يَتَلَوَنُ في الشَّمْسِ ألْوَاناً؛ أحْمَرُ المِنْقَارِ والرًجْلَيْنِ.
