زلزل: زلزلت الأرض: اهتزت (ألكالا، بوشر).
زلزل: هز، زلق. ففي الاكتفا (ص127 ق): فخذلهم الله وزلزل أقدامهم، وفي (ص163 ق) منه: فكانت بينهم جولات وحملات إلى أن زلزل الله قدم المشركين.
ويقال زلزله وزلزل عنه (ألف ليلة 2: 324).
زَلْزَال: هول، بلية، شدة (معجم مسلم).

(زَلْزَلَ)
فِيهِ «اللَّهُمَّ اهْزِمِ الْأَحْزَابَ وزَلْزِلْهُمْ» الزَّلْزَلَةُ فِي الأصْل: الْحَرَكَةُ العظيمةُ والإزعاجُ الشديدُ، وَمِنْهُ زَلْزَلَةُ الْأَرْضِ، وَهُوَ هَاهُنَا كِنَايَةٌ عَنِ التَّخْوِيفِ وَالتَّحْذِيرِ: أَيِ اجْعَلْ أَمْرَهُمْ مُضْطَرِبًا مُتَقَلْقِلًا غَيْرَ ثابت. وَمِنْهُ حَدِيثُ عَطَاءٍ «لَا دَقَّ وَلَا زَلْزَلَةَ فِي الْكَيْلِ» أَيْ لَا يُحَرَّك مَا فِيهِ ويُهَزّ ليَنْضمَّ ويَسَع أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا فِيهِ.
وَفِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ «حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ مِنْ حَلَمة ثَدْييه يَتَزَلْزَلُ» .
