(زَبَعَ) الزَّاءُ وَالْبَاءُ وَالْعَيْنُ قَرِيبٌ مِنَ الَّذِي قَبْلَهُ، وَهُوَ يَدُلُّ عَلَى تَغَيُّظٍ وَعَزِيمَةِ شَرٍّ. يُقَالُ تَزَبَّعَ فُلَانٌ، إِذَا تَهَيَّأَ لِلشَّرِّ. وَتَزَبَّعَ: تَغَيَّرَ. وَهُوَ فِي شِعْرِ مُتَمِّمٍ:

وَإِنْ تَلْقَهُ فِي الشَّرْبِ لَا تَلْقَ فَاحِشًا ... مِنَ الْقَوْمِ ذَا قَاذُورَةٍ مُتَزَبِّعَا

قَالَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ: الْأَزْبَعُ الدَّاهِيَةُ، وَالْجَمْعُ الْأَزَابِعُ. وَأَنْشَدَ:

وَعَدْتَ وَلَمْ تُنْجِزْ وَقِدْمًا وَعَدْتَنِي ... فَأَخْلَفْتَنِي وَتِلْكَ إِحْدَى الْأَزَابِعِ

وَهَذَا إِنْ صَحَّ فَهُوَ مِنَ الْإِبْدَالِ، وَهُوَ مِنَ الْبَابِ قَبْلَهُ.
