(رَيَرَ) الرَّاءُ وَالْيَاءُ وَالرَّاءُ كَلِمَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ لَا يُقَاسُ عَلَيْهَا وَلَا يُفَرَّعُ مِنْهَا. فَالرِّيرُ: الْمُخُّ الْفَاسِدُ، وَهُوَ الرَّيْرُ وَالرَّارُ. وَأَرَارَ اللَّهُ مُخَّ هَذِهِ النَّاقَةِ، أَيْ تَرَكَهُ رِيرًا.

وَحَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ ثَعْلَبًا عَنْ قَوْلِ الْقَائِلِ:

أَرَارَ اللَّهُ مُخَّكَ فِي السُّلَامَى

فَقُلْتُ: أَكَذَا هُوَ، أَمْ:

أَرَانِي اللَّهُ مُخَّكَ فِي السُّلَامَى؟

وَأَيُّهُمَا أَجْوَدُ وَأَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ؟ فَقَالَ: كِلَاهُمَا وَاحِدٌ. وَمَعْنَى أَرَارَ أَرَقَّ. وَالسُّلَامَى: عِظَامُ الرِّجْلِ.
