(رَكَوَ) الرَّاءُ وَالْكَافُ وَالْحَرْفُ الْمُعْتَلُّ أُصُولٌ ثَلَاثَةٌ: أَحَدُهَا حَمْلُ الشَّيْءِ عَلَى شَيْءٍ وَضَمُّهُ إِلَيْهِ، وَالْآخَرُ إِصْلَاحُ شَيْءٍ، وَالثَّالِثُ وِعَاءُ الشَّيْءِ.

فَالْأَوَّلُ قَوْلُهُمْ: رَكَوْتُ عَلَى الْبَعِيرِ الْحِمْلَ: ضَاعَفْتُهُ. وَمِنَ الْبَابِ رَكَوْتُ عَلَيْهِ الْأَمْرَ وَالذَّنْبَ، أَيْ حَمَلْتُهُ عَلَيْهِ. وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: أَنَا مُرْتَكٍ عَلَى كَذَا، أَيْ مُعَوِّلٌ عَلَيْهِ. وَمَا لِي مُرْتَكًى إِلَّا عَلَيْكَ. وَحَكَى الْفَرَّاءُ: أَرْكَيْتَ عَلَيَّ ذَنْبًا لَمْ أُذْنِبْهُ.

وَمِنَ الْبَابِ أَرْكَيْتُ إِلَى فُلَانٍ: لَجَأْتُ إِلَيْهِ. وَمِنْهُ أَرْكِنِي إِلَى كَذَا، أَيْ أَخِّرْنِي، لِلدَّيْنِ يَكُونُ عَلَيْهِ. وَرَكَوْتُ عَنْهُمْ بَقِيَّةَ يَوْمِي، أَيْ أَقَمْتُ.

أَمَّا إِصْلَاحُ الشَّيْءِ فَالْمَرْكُوُّ الْحَوْضُ الْمُسْتَطِيلُ، وَيُقَالُ الْمُصْلَحُ، قَالَ:

قَامَ عَلَى الْمَرْكُوِّ سَاقٍ يَفْعَمُهْ

وَرَكَوْتُ الشَّيْءَ، إِذَا سَدَّدْتَهُ وَأَصْلَحْتَهُ. قَالَ سُوَيْدُ بْنُ كُرَاعٍ:

فَدَعْ عَنْكَ قَوْمًا قَدْ كَفَوْكَ شُئُونَهُمْ ... وَشَأْنُكَ إِلَّا تَرْكُهُ مُتَفَاقِمُ

أَيْ إِنْ لَمْ تُصْلِحْهُ. وَيُقَالُ أَرْكَيْتُ لِفُلَانٍ شَيْئًا، إِذَا هَيَّأْتَهُ لَهُ.

وَأَمَّا الْأَصْلُ الْآخَرُ فَالرَُِّكْوَةُ مَعْرُوفَةٌ; وَمِنْهُ الرَّكِيُّ; لِأَنَّهُ كَأَنَّهُ وِعَاءُ مَا يَكُونُ فِيهِ.
