(رَكَسَ) الرَّاءُ وَالْكَافُ وَالسِّينُ أَصْلٌ وَاحِدٌ، وَهُوَ قَلْبُ الشَّيْءِ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ وَرَدُّ أَوَّلِهِ عَلَى آخِرِهِ. قَالَ اللَّهُ جَلَّ ثَنَاؤُهُ: {وَاللَّهُ أَرْكَسَهُمْ بِمَا كَسَبُوا} [النساء: 88] ، أَيْ رَدَّهُمْ إِلَى كُفْرِهِمْ. وَيُقَالُ ارْتَكَسَ فُلَانٌ فِي أَمْرٍ قَدْ كَانَ نَجَا مِنْهُ. وَالرَّكُوسِيَّةُ: قَوْمٌ لَهُمْ دِينٌ بَيْنَ النَّصَارَى وَالصَّابِئِينَ. وَأُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ، حِينَ طَلَبَ أَحْجَارًا لِلِاسْتِنْجَاءِ بِرَوْثَةٍ، فَرَمَى بِهَا وَقَالَ: " «إِنَّهَا رِكْسٌ» ". وَمَعْنَى ذَلِكَ أَنَّهَا ارْتَكَسَتْ عَنْ أَنْ تَكُونَ طَعَامًا إِلَى غَيْرِهِ.
