(رَبَذَ) الرَّاءُ وَالْبَاءُ وَالذَّالُ أَصْلٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى خِفَّةٍ فِي شَيْءٍ. مِنْ ذَلِكَ الرَّبَذُ، وَهُوَ خِفَّةُ الْقَوَائِمِ. وَالْخَفِيفُ الْقَوَائِمِ رَبِذٌ. وَمِنَ الْبَابِ الرِّبْذَةُ، وَهِيَ صُوفَةٌ يُهْنَأُ بِهَا الْبَعِيرُ. وَيُقَالُ إِنَّ خِرْقَةَ الْحَائِضِ تُسَمَّى رِبْذَةً. وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: الرِّبْذَةُ الْخِرْقَةُ الَّتِي يَجْلُو بِهَا الصَّائِغُ الْحَلْيَ. فَأَمَّا الرَّبَذُ فَالْعُهُونُ الَّتِي تُعَلَّقُ فِي أَعْنَاقِ الْإِبِلِ، الْوَاحِدَةُ رَبَذَةٌ. وَالْقِيَاسُ فِي كُلِّهِ وَاحِدٌ. وَهُوَ يَرْجِعُ إِلَى مَا ذَكَرْنَاهُ مِنَ الْخِفَّةِ.

وَمِمَّا يَقْرُبُ مِنْ هَذَا قَوْلُهُمْ: إِنَّ فُلَانًا لَذُو رَبِذَاتٍ، أَيْ هُوَ كَثِيرُ السَّقَطِ فِي الْكَلَامِ. وَلَا يَكُونُ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا مِنْ خِفَّةٍ وَقِلَّةِ تَثَبُّتٍ.
