قوله تعالى: وَيَخِرُّونَ لِلْأَذْقانِ يَبْكُونَ
[الإسراء/ 109] ، الواحد: ذَقَنٌ، وقد ذَقَنْتُهُ:
ضربت ذقنه، وناقة ذَقُونٌ: تستعين بذقنها في سيرها، ودلو ذَقُونٌ: ضخمة مائلة تشبيها بذلك.

(ذَقَنَ) الذَّالُ وَالْقَافُ وَالنُّونُ كَلِمَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ إِلَيْهَا يَرْجِعُ سَائِرُ مَا يُشْتَقُّ مِنَ الْبَابِ. فَالذَّقَنُ ذَقَنُ الْإِنْسَانِ وَغَيْرِهِ: مَجْمَعُ لَحْيَيْهِ. وَيُقَالُ نَاقَةٌ ذَقُونٌ: تُحَرِّكُ رَأْسَهَا إِذَا سَارَتْ. وَالذَّاقِنَةُ: طَرَفُ الْحُلْقُومِ النَّاتِئُ. وَهُوَ فِي حَدِيثِ عَائِشَةَ: " «تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ سَحْرِي وَنَحْرِي وَحَاقِنَتِي وَذَاقِنَتِي» ". وَتَقُولُ: ذَقَنْتُ الرَّجُلَ أَذْقُنُهُ، إِذَا دَفَعْتَ بِجُمْعِ كَفِّكَ فِي لِهْزِمَتِهِ. وَدَلْوٌ ذَقُونٌ، إِذَا لَمْ تَكُنْ مُسْتَوِيَةً، بَلْ تَكُونُ ضَخْمَةً مَائِلَةً.
