(ذَفَرَ) الذَّالُ وَالْفَاءُ وَالرَّاءُ كَلِمَةٌ تَدُلُّ عَلَى رَائِحَةٍ. يَقُولُونَ: الذَّفَرُ: حِدَّةُ الرَّائِحَةِ الطَّيِّبَةِ. وَيَقُولُونَ مِسْكٌ أَذْفَرُ. وَيَقُولُونَ: رَوْضَةٌ ذَفِرَةٌ: لَهَا رَائِحَةٌ طَيِّبَةٌ. وَالذَّفْرَاءُ: بَقْلَةٌ. فَأَمَّا الذِّفْرَى فَهُوَ الْمَوْضِعُ الَّذِي يَعْرَقُ مِنْ قَفَا الْبَعِيرِ. وَلَا بُدَّ أَنْ تَكُونَ لِذَلِكَ الْمَكَانِ رَائِحَةٌ. وَالذِّفِرُّ: الْبَعِيرُ الْقَوِيُّ ذَلِكَ الْمَوْضِعُ مِنْهُ، ثُمَّ اسْتُعِيرَ ذَلِكَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ فِي الْإِنْسَانِ أَيْضًا ذِفْرَى. قَالَ:

وَالْقُرْطُ فِي حُرَّةِ الذِّفْرَى مُعَلَّقُهُ ... تَبَاعَدَ الْحَبْلُ عَنْهُ فَهُوَ مُضْطَرِبُ
