بفتح أوله، والإياد بالياء المثناة من تحت وكسر الهمزة، والدّوم عند العرب: شجر المقل، والدوم أيضا الظل الدائم: وهو موضع في شعر ابن مقبل:
قوم محاضرهم شتى، ومجمعهم ... دوم الإياد وفاثور، إذا اجتمعوا
