اشتق من الدَّجْن. والدجن: ظُلمة الغيم، وإطباقه السماء. وإلباسه برَمْلٍ ونَدًى. وبعض العرب يقول للدَّجْن: الدُّجْيَة [والدُّجَى: جمع الدُّجْيَة]، وهو ما ألبسك من ظُلمة أَو غَيْرِها.
