[دأى] الدَأْيُ من البعير: الموضع الذى تقع عليه ظلفة (*) الرحل فتَعقِره. ومنه قيل للغراب: ابن دأْيَةَ. وقال يصفُ الشَيب: ولما رأيتُ النَسْرَ عَزَّ ابن دأْيَةٍ * وعَشَّشَ في وَكْرَيْهِ جاشتْ له نَفْسي ويجمع على دأَياتٍ بالتحريك. وجمع الدأى دئى، مثل ضأن وضئين، ومعز ومعيز. قال الراجز : يعض منها الظلف الدئيا * عض الثقاف الخرص الخطيا أبو زيد: دأيت للشئ أدأى له دأيا، إذا خْتَلْتَهُ، مثل أَدَوْتُ له. ودَأَوْتُ له: لغةٌ في دَأَيْتُ. يقال: الذئب يَدْأَى للغزال ليأخذه، أي يختله، مثل يأدو.
