[حظب] حَظَبَ حُظوباً: سَمِنَ. يقال: " اعْلُلْ تَحْظُبْ "، أي اشرب مَرَّةً بعد مرة تسمن. الاصمعي: الحنظب والحنظب : الذكر من الجراد. وقال الخليل: الحناظب الخنافس، الواحد حنظب وحنظباء. قال الطماحى يصف كلبا أسود: أعددت للذئب وليل الحارس * مصدرا أتلع مثل الفارس يستقبل الريح بأنف خانس * في مثل جلد الحنظباء اليابس وقال حسان بن ثابت: وأُمُّكَ سوداءُ نُوبِيَّةٌ * كأنَّ أَنامِلَها الحُنْظُبُ * والحُنْظوبُ: المرأة الضخمة الرديئة.
