حسده على نعمة الله، وحسده نعمة الله، وكل ذي نعمة محسودها. وتقول: إن الحسد يأكل الجسد، والمحسدة مفسدة. وقوم حسدة وحساد وحسد، وهما يتحاسدان. وصحبته فأحسدته أي وجدته حاسداً. والأكابر محسدون. قال:

إنّ العرانين تلقاها محسدة ... ولا ترى للئام الناس حسادا
