[هـ] فِي الْحَدِيثِ «القُضاة ثَلاثَة: رَجُلٌ عَلِمَ فَحَدَلَ» أَيْ جاز. يُقَال: إِنَّهُ لَحَدْلٌ: أَيْ غَيْرُ عَدْل.
وَفِيهِ ذِكْر «حُدَيْلَة» بِضَمِّ الْحَاءِ وَفَتْحِ الدَّالِّ، وَهِيَ مَحلَّة بالمدينة نُسِبَتْ إلى بني حُدَيْلَة:
بطن من الأنصار.

(حَدِلَ) الْحَاءُ وَالدَّالُ وَاللَّامُ أَصْلٌ وَاحِدٌ، وَهُوَ الْمَيَلُ. يُقَالُ رَجُلٌ أَحْدَلُ، إِذَا كَانَ فِي شِقِّهِ مَيَلٌ، وَهُوَ الْحَدَلُ. قَالَ أَبُو عَمْرٍو: الْأَحْدَلُ: الَّذِي فِي مَنْكِبَيْهِ وَرَقَبَتِهِ انْكِبَابٌ عَلَى صَدْرِهِ. وَيُقَالُ قَوْسٌ مُحْدَلَةٌ وَحَدْلَاءُ، وَذَلِكَ إِذَا تَطَامَنَتْ سِيَتُهَا. وَالْحَدْلُ: ضِدُّ الْعَدْلِ. قَالَ أَبُو زَيْدٍ: حَدَلَ عَنِ الْأَمْرِ يَحْدِلُ حَدْلًا. وَإِنَّهُ لَحَدْلٌ غَيْرُ عَدْلٍ. وَمِمَّا شَذَّ عَنِ الْبَابِ وَمَا أَدْرِي أَصَحِيحٌ هُوَ أَمْ لَا، قَوْلُهُمُ: الْحَوْدَلُ الذَّكَرُ مِنَ الْقِرَدَةِ.
