جم غفير: أَي جمع كثير (الجم) من الجموم وَهُوَ الْكَثْرَة (والغفير) من الغفر وَهُوَ السّتْر أَي فِي الْكَثْرَة بِحَيْثُ يستر مَا وَرَاءه أَو وَجه الأَرْض.
