: (جُعْثُب كقُنفُذٍ) أَهمله الجوهريُّ، وَهُوَ بِالْمُثَلثَةِ فِي سَائِر النّسخ، وَقَالَ ابْن دُرَيْد: هُوَ بِالتَّاءِ المُثَنَّاةِ الفوقيةِ (اسْمٌ) مأْخوذٌ من فِعْلٍ مُمَاتٍ.
(والجَعْثَبَةُ: الحِرْصُ والشَّرَهُ) والنَّهْمَةُ، عَن ابْن دُرَيْد.
