a. Made to flow or spurt out.

إِنْثَعَبَa. Flowed, spurted, rushed forth.

(هـ) فِيهِ «يَجِيءُ الشَّهِيدُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وجُرْحه يَثْعَب دَمًا» أَيْ يجْري.
وَمِنْهُ حَدِيثُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ «صَلّى وجُرحه يَثْعَب دَمًا» .
وَمِنْهُ حَدِيثُ سَعْدٍ «فقطعْتُ نَسَاه فانْثَعَبَت جَدِيَّةُ الدَّمِ» أَيْ سَالَت. ويُروى فانْبَعَثَتْ.

ثَعَبَ الماءَ والدَّم كمنع: فَجَرَهُ فَانْثَعَبَ. وماءٌ ثَعْبٌ وثَعَبٌ وأُثْعُوبٌ وأُثْعُبانٌ: سائلٌ.
والثَّعْبُ: مَسيلُ الوادي، ج: ثُعْبانٌ.
ومثاعبُ المدينة: مسايلُ مائها.
والثَّعْبَةُ، بالضم أو كَهُمَزَة، ووهمَ الجوهريُّ: وَزَغَةٌ خَبيثةٌ خَضْراءُ الرَّأسِ، والفَأرَةُ، وشَجَرٌ.
والثُعبانُ: الحَيَّةُ الضَّخْمَةُ الطَّويلَة، أو الذَّكرُ خاصَّةً، أو عامٌّ.
والأَثْعَبيُّ، بالفتح، والأُثْعُبانُ والأُثْعبانِيُّ بضمّهما: الوَجْهُ الفَخْمُ في حُسْنٍ وبَيَاض.
وفُوهُ يجْري ثَعابيبَ، أي: ماءٌ صافٍ مُتَمَدِّدٌ.
والثَّعُوبُ: المِرَّةُ.

(ثَعْبٌ) الثَّاءُ وَالْعَيْنُ وَالْبَاءُ أَصْلٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى امْتِدَادِ الشَّيْءِ وَانْبِسَاطِهِ، يَكُونُ ذَلِكَ فِي مَاءٍ وَغَيْرِهِ.

قَالَ الْخَلِيلُ: يُقَالُ ثَعَبْتُ الْمَاءَ وَأَنَا أَثْعَبُهُ، إِذَا فَجَّرْتُهُ فَانْثَعَبَ، كَانْثِعَابِ الدَّمِ مِنَ الْأَنْفِ. قَالَ: وَمِنْهُ اشْتُقَّ مَثْعَبُ الْمَطَرِ. وَمِمَّا يَصْلُحُ حَمْلُهُ عَلَى هَذَا، الثُّعْبَانُ الْحَيَّةُ الضَّخْمُ الطَّوِيلُ ; وَهُوَ مِنَ الْقِيَاسِ، فِي انْبِسَاطِهِ وَامْتِدَادِهِ خَلْقًا وَحَرَكَةً. قَالَ:

عَلَى نَهْجٍ كَثُعْبَانِ الْعَرِينِ

وَرُبَّمَا قِيلَ مَاءٌ ثَعْبٌ، وَيَجْمَعُ عَلَى الثُّعْبَانِ.
