ث د ا: (الثَّدْيُ) يُذَكَّرُ وَيُؤَنَّثُ وَهُوَ لِلْمَرْأَةِ وَالرَّجُلِ أَيْضًا وَالْجَمْعُ (أَثْدٍ) وَ (ثُدِيٌّ) بِضَمِّ الثَّاءِ وَكَسْرِهَا قَالَ ثَعْلَبٌ: (الثَّنْدُوَةُ) بِفَتْحِ الثَّاءِ غَيْرَ مَهْمُوزٍ بِوَزْنِ التَّرْقُوَةِ وَهِيَ مَغْرِزُ الثَّدْيِ فَإِذَا ضَمَمْتَ الثَّاءَ هَمَزْتَ. وَقَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ: كَانَ رُؤْبَةُ يَهْمِزُ الثَّنْدُوَةَ وَسِيَةَ الْقَوْسِ
وَالْعَرَبُ لَا تَهْمِزُ وَاحِدًا مِنْهُمَا.
