[تفه] قيل: وما الرويبصة؟ قال: الرجل "التافه" ينطق في أمر العامة التافه الخسيس الحقير. ومنه ح وصف القرآن: لا "يتفه" ولا يتشان، تفه يتفه فهو تافه. وح: لا يقطع اليد في الشيء "التافه".

(تَفِهَ) التَّاءُ وَالْفَاءُ وَالْهَاءُ أَصْلٌ وَاحِدٌ، وَهُوَ قِلَّةُ الشَّيْءِ. يُقَالُ تَفِهَ الشَّيْءُ فَهُوَ تَافِهٌ، إِذَا قَلَّ. وَفِي الْحَدِيثِ فِي ذِكْرِ الْقُرْآنِ: «لَا يَتْفَهُ وَلَا يُخْلِقُ» .

وَفِي حَدِيثٍ آخَرَ: «كَانَتِ الْيَدُ لَا تُقْطَعُ فِي الشَّيْءِ التَّافِهِ» .
