التسميط: هو تصيير كل بيت أربعة أقسام ثلاثتها على سجع واحد مع مراعاة القافية في الرابع إلى أن تنقضي القصيدة كقوله:
وحرب وردت وثغر سددت ... وعلج شددت عليه الحبالا
ومال حويت وخيل حميت ... وضيف قريت يخاف الوكالا
