من (ب ر ص) نسبة إلى البُرَيص تصغير بَرَص بمعنى بياض يقع في الجسم لعله نسبة إلى بُرَيصة تصغير برصة بمعنى فتق الغيم يري منه أديم السماء وبقة في الرمل لا تنبت شيئا.
