(بَنَقَ) الْبَاءُ وَالنُّونُ وَالْقَافُ كَلِمَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ، وَأَرَاهَا مِنَ الْحَوَاشِي غَيْرَ وَاسِطَةٍ. وَهِيَ الْبَنِيقَةُ، وَهُوَ جُِرُِبَّانُ الْقَمِيصِ. وَيُقَالُ: الْبَنِيقَةُ كُلُّ رُقْعَةٍ فِي الثَّوْبِ كَاللَّبِنَةِ وَنَحْوِهَا. عَلَى أَنَّهَا قَدْ جَاءَتْ فِي الشِّعْرِ. قَالَ:

يَضُمُّ إِلَيَّ اللَّيْلُ أَطْفَالَ حُبِّهَا ... كَمَا ضَمَّ أَزْرَارَ الْقَمِيصِ الْبَنَائِقُ
