بقم: البَقَّمُ: شجرة، وهو صبغ يصبغ به، قال:

كمرجل الصباغ جاش بَقَّمُهْ

وإنما علمنا أنه دخيل لأنه ليس للعرب كلمة على بناء فعل. ولو كانت عربية البناء لوجد لها نظير إلا ما يقال من (بذر) وخضم، وهو بنو العنبر بن عمرو بن تميم.

( [بَقَمَ) الْبَاءُ وَالْقَافُ وَالْمِيمُ] . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

وَقَدْ ذُكِرَ أَنَّ الْبُقَامَةَ الرَّجُلُ الضَّعِيفُ. قَالَ: وَالْبُقَامَةُ مَا يَسْقُطُ مِنَ الصُّوفِ إِذَا طُرِقَ. وَذَكَرَ الْآخَرُ أَنَّ الْبِقَمَّ الْأَكُولُ الرَّغِيبُ. وَمَا هَذَا عِنْدِي بِشَيْءٍ فَإِنْ صَحَّ فَلَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يَكُونَ إِتْبَاعًا لِلْهِقَمِّ، يُقَالُ لِلْأَكُولِ هِقَمٌّ بِقَمٌّ. وَالَّذِي ذَكَرَهُ الْكِسَائِيُّ مِنْ قَوْلِهِمْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَتَكَلَّمَ فَتَبَقَّمَ: إِذَا أُرْتِجَ عَلَيْهِ، فَإِنْ كَانَ صَحِيحًا فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ تَبَكَّمَ، ثُمَّ أُقِيمَتِ الْقَافُ مُقَامَ الْكَافِ. وَأَمَّا الْبَقَّمُ فَإِنَّ النَّحْوِيِّينَ يُنْكِرُونَهُ وَيَأْبَوْنَ أَنْ يَكُونَ عَرَبِيًّا. وَقَالَ الْكِسَائِيُّ: الْبَقَّمُ صِبْغٌ أَحْمَرُ. قَالَ:

كَمِرْجَلِ الصَّبَّاغِ جَاشَ بَقَّمُهْ

وَأَنْشَدَ آخَرُ:

نَفِيَّ قَطْرٍ مِثْلَ لَوْنِ الْبَقَّمِ

وَمَعْنَى الْبَابِ مَا ذَكَرْتُهُ أَوَّلًا.
