الهَجر: بالفتح ترك ما يلزم تعهده وأيضاً مفارقةُ الإنسان غيره، وبالضم القبيح من الكلام والخلط والهذيان، والهجْر: بالكسر الفائق والفائقة من الجمال والنوق، والهَجَر: محركةً بلدٌ بقرب المدينة المنوَّرة.
