النَّقِيب: الرئيس. النَّقِير: هو أصل النخلة يُنقر جوفها ويُشدخ فيها الرطب والبسر ويترك حتى يشتدَّ ويغلي، وكانوا ينبذون فيه فيشتدَّ والنقيرُ، أيضاً النكتة في ظهر النواة.
