النَّفَث: الوَسَخ والشَّعثُ ومنه قوله تعالى: {ثُمَّ لْيَقْضُوا تَفَثَهُمْ} [الحج:29] أي ليزينوا وسخهم بقصِّ الشارب والأظفار ونتفِ الإبط.
