المُسْتسعى: هو المذكور بعد إِلاَّ غير الصفة وأخواتها مخالفاً لما قبلها نفياً أو إثباتاً ويسمى بالثُنْيا والمذكورُ قبلها هو المستثنى منه. وأصل الاستثناء الإخراجُ من القاعدة العامة.
