المس: ملاقاة ظاهر الشيء ظاهر غيره، قاله الحرالي. وقال غيره: اجتماع التقاءين من غير نقصان. وقال الراغب: اللمس كاللمس، لكن قد يقال لطلب الشيء وإن لم يوجد. والمس يقال فيما معه إدراك بحاسة السمع. وكني به عن النكاح، وكني بالمس عن الجنون. والمس يقال في كل ما ينال الإنسان من اذى بخلاف اللمس.
