بفتح المثنّاة التحتانية المشدّدة في اللغة هي البناء العالي والطويل كما في كنز اللغات. وهو عند البلغاء: كلام تكون فيه جميع الحروف المنقوطة مستعلية. ومثاله: البيت التالي ومعناه:
قلت أنا مسرور من غم عشقك ومن جمال اسمك أتحرّر من الغمّ كذا في مجمع الصنائع.
