[ في الفرنسية] Surnom ،sobriquet
بالقاف في اللغة ما يعبّر به عن شيء.
وفي اصطلاح أهل العربية علم يشعر بمدح أو ذمّ باعتبار معناه الأصلي، صرّح بذلك المولوي عصام الدين في حاشية الفوائد الضيائية في المبنيات في شرح قول المصنّف وألقابه ضمّ وفتح وكسر وقد سبق في لفظ العلم.
