القحبة: المرأة البغي، من قحب الرجل إذا سعل من لؤمه لأنها تسعل ترمز بذلك، ذكره ابن دريد كابن القوطية، وجرى عليه في البارع، وبه رد قول الجوهري: القحبة مولدة لأن هؤلاء أثبات، وقد أثبتوه.
