الغلام: الطار الشارب، ولما كان من بلغ هذا الحد كثيرا ما يغلب عليه الشبق قيل للشبق غلمة. ويطلق الغلام على الرجل مجازا باسم ما كان عليه، كما يقال للصغير شيخ مجازا باسم ما يؤول إليه.
