الطهارة في اللغة: عبارة عن النظافة، وفي الشرع: عبارة عن غسل أعضاء مخصوصة، أو هي إزالةُ خَبَثٍ أو حَدَث. وفي "مراقي الفلاح": "الطهارةُ: بالفتح مصدرٌ وبكسرها الآلة وبضمها فضلُ ما يُتطهر به".
