الخَبائث: ما كانت العرب تستقذره ولا تأكله، مثلُ الأفاعي والعقارب والأبرص والخنافس والفأر وغيرها، مفرده الخبيثُ وهو النجس والرديء المستكره قال الراغب: {وَيُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْخَبَائِثَ} [الأعراف:157] أي ما لا يوافق النفسَ من المحظورات.
