الجِحاظُ، ككِتابٍ: مَحْجِرُ العَيْنِ، وحَرْفُ الكَمَرَةِ.
وجَحَظَتْ عَيْنُه، كمنَع: خَرَجَتْ مُقْلَتُها، أو عَظُمَتْ،
وـ إليه عَمَلَه: نَظَرَ في عَمَلِه، فَرَأى سُوءَ ما صَنَعَ.
والتَّجْحِيظُ: تَحديدُ النَّظَرِ.
والجاحِظُ: لَقَبُ عَمْرِو بنِ بَحْرٍ.
