التَّعْسُ: الهَلاكُ، والعِثَارُ، والسُّقوطُ، والشَّرُّ، والبُعْدُ، والانْحِطَاطُ، والفِعْلُ كمنَعَ وسَمِعَ.
أو إذا خاطَبْتَ، قُلْتَ: تَعَسْتَ، كمنَع.
وإذا حَكَيْتَ، قُلْتَ: تَعِسَ، كسمِعَ. وتَعِسَهُ اللهُ وأتْعَسَهُ.
ورجلٌ تاعِسٌ وتَعِسٌ.
