البد: هُوَ الَّذِي لَا ضَرُورَة فِيهِ.
البد: الذي لا ضرورة عنه، تقول لا بد من كذا أي لا محيد عنه، ولا يعرف استعماله إلا مقرونا بالنفي. وبددت الشيء فرقته والتثقيل مبالغة وتكثير، واستبد بالأمر انفرد بغير مشارك.
