الاختبار: فعل ما يظهر به الشيء، وهو من الله: إظهاره ما يعلم من أسرار خلقه، فإن علم الله تعالى قسمان: قسمٌ يتقدم وجود الشيء في اللوح، وقسمٌ يتأخر وجوده في مظاهر الخلق، والبلاء الذي هو الاختبار هو هذا القسم لا الأول.
