ابْن جني: هُوَ أَبُو الْفَتْح عُثْمَان بن جني الْموصِلِي، كَانَ نحويا مُجْتَهدا فِي النَّحْو، توفّي فِي بَغْدَاد فِي صفر سنة اثْنَتَيْنِ وَتِسْعين وَثَلَاث مائَة وَله مصنفات كَثِيرَة فِي النَّحْو.
