(أَرَوَ) وَأَمَّا الْهَمْزَةُ وَالرَّاءُ وَالْوَاوُ فَلَيْسَ إِلَّا الْأَرْوَى، وَلَيْسَ هُوَ أَصْلًا يُشْتَقُّ مِنْهُ وَلَا يُقَاسُ عَلَيْهِ. قَالَ الْأَصْمَعِيُّ: الْأُرْوِيَّةُ الْأُنْثَى مِنَ الْوُعُولِ وَثَلَاثُ أَرَاوِيٍّ إِلَى الْعَشْرِ، فَإِذَا كَثُرَتْ فَهِيَ الْأَرْوَى. قَالَ أَبُو زَيْدٍ: يُقَالُ لِلذَّكَرِ وَالْأُنْثَى أُرْوِيَّةٌ.
