نَطَفٌ Earrings: see a verse cited in art. سجد.

نُطْفَةٌ Sperma of a man (S, Msb, K) and of a woman. (Msb.) نَاطِفٌ A kind of sweetmeat; (Msb;) i. q. قُبَّيْطَى. (S, Msb.)

(نَطَفَ) النُّونُ وَالطَّاءُ وَالْفَاءُ أَصْلَانِ أَحَدُهُمَا جِنْسٌ مِنَ الْحَلْيِ، وَالْآخَرُ نُدُوَّةٌ وَبَلَلٌ، ثُمَّ يُسْتَعَارُ وَيُتَوَسَّعُ فِيهِ.

فَالْأَوَّلُ: النَّطَفُ. يُقَالُ هُوَ اللُّؤْلُؤُ، الْوَاحِدَةُ نَطَفَةٌ. وَيُقَالُ: بَلِ النَّطَفُ: الْقِرَطَةُ.

وَالْأَصْلُ الْآخَرُ النُّطْفَةُ: الْمَاءُ الصَّافِي. وَلَيْلَةٌ نَطُوفٌ: مَطَرَتْ حَتَّى الصَّبَاحِ. وَالنِّطَافُ: الْعَرَقُ. ثُمَّ يُسْتَعَارُ هَذَا فَيُقَالُ النَّطَفُ: التَّلَطُّخُ. وَلَا يَكَادُ يُقَالُ إِلَّا فِي الْقَبِيحِ وَالْعَيْبِ. وَيُقَالُ نَطِفٌ، أَيْ مَعِيبٌ. وَنَطِفَ الشَّيْءُ: فَسَدَ.
