[نوص] قال الفراء: النوص: التأخر. وأنشد لامرئ القيس أمن ذكر ليلى إذْ نأَتْكَ تَنوصُ * فَتَقْصُرُ عنها خطوة وتبوص * يقال: ناص عن قِرْنِهِ يَنوصُ نَوْصاً ومَناصاً، أي فرَّ وراغ. وقال الله تعالى: {ولاتَ حين مَناصٍ} ، أي ليس وقت تأخُّرٍ وفِرارٍ. والمَناصُ، أيضاً: الملجأ والمفرّ. والنَوْصُ، الحمار الوحشي . واسْتَناصَ، أي تأخر. وقولهم: ما به نَويصٌ، أي قوةٌ وحَراكٌ. وناوَصَ الجَرَّة، أي مارسها. وقد فسرناه في الجرة.
