علث: علث: خندريلي ابن البيطار 2: 210، 512) وفي المستعيني: هندبا هو العلث، وهذا هو صواب الكلمة كما جاء في مخطوطة لا.
وفي مخطوطة ن: القلت وهو خطأ.

(س) فِيهِ «مَا شَبِع أهْلُه مِنَ الخَمِير العَلِيث» أَيِ الخُبْزِ المَخْبُوز مِنَ الشَّعير والسُّلْت. والعَلْث والعُلَاثَة: الخَلْط. ويُقال بِالْغَيْنِ الْمُعْجَمَةِ أَيْضًا.

(عَلِثَ) الْعَيْنُ وَاللَّامُ وَالثَّاءُ أَصْلٌ صَحِيحٌ وَاحِدٌ يَدُلُّ عَلَى خَلْطِ الشَّيْءِ بِالشَّيْءِ. مِنْ ذَلِكَ: الْعَلِيثُ، وَهِيَ الْحِنْطَةُ يُخْلَطُ بِهَا الشَّعِيرُ. وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ غَيْرُ خَالِصٍ فَهَذَا قِيَاسُهُ. وَمِنْ ذَلِكَ أَعْلَاثُ الزَّادِ، وَهُوَ مَا أُكِلَ غَيْرَ مُتَخَيَّرٍ مِنْ شَيْءٍ. وَيُقَالُ قَضِيبٌ مُعْتَلَثٌ، إِذَا لَمْ يُتَخَيَّرْ شَجَرُهُ. وَ " إِنَّهُ لِيَعْتَلِثُ الزِّنَادَ ". مَثَلٌ يُضْرَبُ لِمَنْ لَا يَتَخَيَّرُ مَنْكِحَهُ.
