[حطب] الحَطَبُ معروف، تقول منه: حَطَبْتُ واحتطبتُ، إذا جمعته. ويقال لمن يتكلم بالغت والسمين: حاطب لَيْلٍ، لأنّه لا يبصر ما يجمع في حَبْلِهِ. وحطَبني فلان، إذا أتاك بالحَطب. قال الراجز : خَبٌّ جَروزٌ وإذا جاع بَكى * لا حَطَبَ القومَ ولا القومَ سَقى والحَطَّابَةُ: الذين يحتطبون. وأحطب الكَرْمُ: حان أن يُقْطَعَ منه الحطبُ. وناقة مُحاطِبَةٌ: تأكل الشوكَ اليابس. ومكانٌ حطيبٌ: كثير الحطب. والحَطِبُ: الرجل الشديد الهُزالِ. والأحطب مثله. وقولهم: " صفقة لم يشهدها حاطب " هو حاطب بن أبى بلتعة، وكان حازما.
