حَانْــبَه:
يجمع على حوانب. يطلق هذا الاسم في تونس على فرسان العرب يختص بهم الباي ويقومون بنفس العمل الذي يقوم به الدرك (الجندرمة) في أوروبا. ففي تاريخ تونس (ص99) في كلامه عن الباي محمد تاباك: فاختص بجمع من الترك أسكنهم معه بالصبة واعصوصب بهم ولقبهم بالحوانب جمع حانــبة (عشر سنوات ص27، 32، 38، 125، 138، 161، 259 الخ وفيه ( Hampers) ، افجست 102: 2 وفيه ( hambi جمع)، 169 وفيها ( hamba مفرد) الخ، مجلة الشرق والجزائر 318: 3، 9: 8 بليسيه ص53، 376 الخ، دونانت ص76).

قَفِير الطــحّان: هو أن يستأجر طــحانــاً ليطحن له حنطةً معلومة بقفيز من دقيقها فهو عندهم إجارةٌ مخصوصة، يعني إجارة الرحى ببعض دقيقه الحاصل من ذلك البرِّ.
