النَّاب: من الإنسان مذكر. والناب: الناقة المسنة مؤنثة وتصغيرها نِيَيْبٌ بكسر النون وإسقاط الهاء لأنها اسم للمؤنث خاصة لا تقع على المذكر إذ كان ذكرها جملا.

النَّحلُ: مؤنثة، تصغيرها نحيل بــإسقاط الهاء لئلا يشبه تصغير نحلة فلا يفرق بين الواحد والجمع.
نحن والنون في ضربنا وضربني ونضرب يستوي فيه الذكر والأنثى.
