الرسول: لغة، من يبلغ أخبار من بعثه لمقصود، سمي به النبي المرسل لتتابع الوحي عليه إذ هو فعول بمعنى مفعول. وقال الراغب. أصل الرسل الانبعاث على تؤدة، يقال: ناقة رسل سهلة السير، ومنه الرسول المنبعث والرسول باعتبار الملائكة أعم من النبي إذ قد يكون من الملائكة بخلافه، وباعتبار البشر أخص منه إذ الرسول رجل بعث إلى الخلق لتبليغ الأحكام.
