ف ر ع: (فَرْعُ) كُلِّ شَيْءٍ أَعْلَاهُ. وَ (الْفَرْعُ) أَيْضًا الشَّعْرُ التَّامُّ. وَ (الْفَرَعُ) بِفَتْحَتَيْنِ أَوَّلُ وَلَدٍ تُنْتِجُهُ النَّاقَةُ كَانُوا يَذْبَحُونَهُ لِآلِهَتِهِمْ فَيَتَبَرَّكُونَ بِذَلِكَ. وَفِي الْحَدِيثِ: «لَا فَرَعَ وَلَا عَتِيرَةَ» وَ (الْأَفْرَعُ) ضِدُّ الْأَصْلَعِ. وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَفْرَعَ. وَ (تَفَرَّعَتْ) أَغْصَانُ الشَّجَرَةِ كَثُرَتْ.
