(وَرَثَ) الْوَاوُ وَالرَّاءُ وَالثَّاءُ: كَلِمَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ، هِيَ الْوِرْثُ. وَالْمِيرَاثُ أَصْلُهُ الْوَاوُ. وَهُوَ أَنْ يَكُونَ الشَّيْءُ لِقَوْمٍ ثُمَّ يَصِيرَ إِلَى آخَرِينَ بِنَسَبٍ أَوْ سَبَبٍ. قَالَ:

وَرِثْنَاهُنَّ عَنْ آبَاءِ صِدْقَ ... وَنُورِثُهَا إِذَا مِتْنَا بَنِينَا
